Nigerian Boxer, Segun Olanrewaju collapses, dies during bout in Ghana

The boxing community has been left in shock following the sudden passing of former National and West African light-heavyweight champion, Segun ‘Success’ Olanrewaju, who collapsed in the ring during a fight in Ghana on Saturday.

Olanrewaju was facing Ghanaian opponent Jon Mbanugu at Fight Night 15 of the Ghana Professional Boxing League at Bukom Boxing Arena when he unexpectedly lost consciousness.

Reports suggest that he was ahead on points before the unfortunate incident occurred.

A widely shared video on social media captured the moment he went down in the ring, leaving fans and officials in disbelief.

A well-respected athlete in Nigerian boxing, Olanrewaju had previously held both the National and West African light-heavyweight titles.
