Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca defers discussion on Jadon Sancho’s future

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has declined to comment on Jadon Sancho’s future with the club, citing the team’s focus on the remaining nine games of the season.

Sancho, on loan from Manchester United, has struggled to find form, scoring only twice in 29 games and facing an 18-game goal drought.

Maresca acknowledged Sancho’s subpar performance, saying, “In terms of numbers, he could do better, no doubt.” However, he emphasized that Sancho’s situation is not unique, as several other players are also underperforming.

The Italian manager also addressed reports of a penalty clause in Sancho’s loan agreement, which would require Chelsea to pay £5m if they opt against signing him permanently.

Maresca’s attention is currently on Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League match against Tottenham, with the team bolstered by the return of injured players Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Noni Madueke. However, midfielder Romeo Lavia is a major doubt due to a “small problem.”
