I voluntarily reported to security agencies – Nwaeke refutes kidnapping allegations

George Nwaeke, the former Rivers State Head of Service, has denied his wife’s claims that he was abducted, asserting that he is safe in Abuja.

In a video released early Saturday, Nwaeke clarified that he traveled to the nation’s capital of his own accord to meet with security officials regarding the ongoing situation in Rivers State.

“My wife was misinformed and given a script to read,” he stated, contradicting her claim. “I am presently at TRANSCORP Abuja.

“I arrived this morning from Port Harcourt to report myself to security agencies and discuss the unfolding events in Rivers. I resigned as Head of Service on Monday due to these issues.”

He further distanced his wife from his professional affairs, insisting, “While I served as Head of Service, my wife had no involvement in my work.

The statement she made holds no merit. I am safe, sound, and voluntarily engaging with security agencies in Abuja, where their headquarters are located.”

Meanwhile, his wife, Florence Nwaeke, voiced distress over his disappearance. She disclosed that after he landed in Abuja, he initially contacted her, but her concern escalated after seeing an online video of him that seemed suspicious.

“That is not my husband. That is not my husband,” she insisted, recalling her reaction to the video.

Desperate to reach him, she recounted sending urgent messages: “‘Are you under duress? Have they kidnapped you? Talk to me now.

“Why are you not responding?’” She expressed alarm that his phone numbers were suddenly unreachable, pleading, “Nigerians, please help me!”
