Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of plotting to have her killed.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters during her homecoming on Tuesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that while the assassination plot was not made public, the Nigeria Police Force had already been notified.
She claimed that Akpabio initiated her recall process after allegedly promising financial support to Bello.
“On March 13 at 10:00 pm—just two days before that—Akpabio called Governor Ododo, asking him to begin my recall. But Ododo refused, saying it was impossible because the people are with me,” she said.
She further alleged, “Since Ododo declined, Akpabio then called Yahaya Bello. I was made aware of everything.
“The discussion had two key points—first, they wanted Bello to start my recall process, which Akpabio promised to fund.
“The second was an instruction to have me killed. I chose not to make this public, but I have formally reported the matter to the Inspector General of Police.
“Akpabio told Bello that if they were to kill me, it must not happen in Abuja but here, so it would appear as if it was orchestrated by the people.”
