BREAKING: Founder of defunct Diamond Bank, passes away

Pascal Gabriel Dozie, renowned Nigerian businessman and founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank Plc, has passed away at the age of 85 following a brief illness.

His family confirmed the news in a statement released on Tuesday, noting that he died on Monday.

Born on April 9, 1939, Dozie hailed from the family of Charles Dozie, a Catholic catechist. He began his education at Our Lady’s School, Emekuku, and continued at Holy Ghost Juniorate Seminary and Holy Ghost College in Owerri, Imo State, where he obtained his West African Senior School Certificate.

He later traveled to the United Kingdom, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics. He went on to study Operational Research and Industrial Engineering and obtained a Master’s degree in Administrative Science from City University, London.

Pascal Dozie also served as a former chairman of MTN Nigeria and was widely regarded as a pillar in Nigeria’s financial and telecommunications sectors.

He is survived by his wife, Chinyere, and five children.
