Professor Olubunmi Shittu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, has been appointed to serve as the institution’s acting Vice-Chancellor.
Her new role comes after Vice-Chancellor Professor Abayomi Fasina received the Governing Council’s approval to begin his deferred annual and research leave.
The announcement was made by the University Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim, who noted that the decision was reached during the Governing Council’s emergency meeting held virtually on Monday, April 14, 2025.
The Council granted Prof. Fasina a six-month leave—amounting to 126 working days—from his full entitlement of 228 days.
In his absence, Prof. Shittu, the highest-ranking among the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, will oversee the university’s affairs in an acting capacity, beginning the same day the leave takes effect.
