Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church has sounded the alarm over the worsening state of security in Nigeria.
The cleric warned that insurgents may forcefully oust two governors from their positions if the federal government fails to act swiftly.
Speaking through a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, on Tuesday morning, Ayodele urged President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to take urgent measures, especially in the North, where the threat is most severe.
“There are people behind the insecurity, and if it is not dealt with immediately, a more disastrous situation will come,” he cautioned.
The prophet said the bandits were not only escalating their attacks but were also allegedly plotting to seize government buildings and create chaos for Tinubu’s administration.
“They want to fight without mercy,” Ayodele declared. “Let’s be careful so that insurgents will not sack any governor.”
He specifically warned the governors of Borno and Benue to increase their vigilance or risk being overpowered.
“The governors of Borno, Professor Babagana Zulum, and Benue, Hyacinth Alia, must take this insecurity thing seriously so that their offices will not be taken over by these daredevils,” he said.
Ayodele implored Ribadu to urgently formulate strategies to counter the crisis.
“I am warning Nuhu Ribadu and President Tinubu to quickly deal with the insecurity issues, especially in the north,” he said.
He also prophesied that the wave of violence could engulf more regions if action isn’t taken soon.
“This will also spread to Abuja, Kaduna, Yobe, and Nasarawa,” Ayodele added. “We must be very careful.”
The cleric concluded by urging Nigerians to pray to avert what he described as a looming crisis involving the displacement of northern governors.
