Suspended Rivers governor faces state inquiry over past appointments

Rivers State’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has issued a formal summons to the suspended Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, and his Deputy, Dr. Ngozi Ordu.

The summon is requesting their presence at a state-level inquiry focused on appointments made during their administration.

Set for Friday, April 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., the meeting will be held at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt. Both former officials are required to attend in person.

In a notice released by Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, Secretary to the State Government, Sir Fubara is instructed to submit comprehensive records and evidence supporting the selection processes and criteria used in making appointments during his two-year tenure.

“This isn’t just a review of past decisions,” the announcement noted. “It’s also a platform for the suspended governor to make a case for his possible reinstatement.”

The inquiry is part of Vice Admiral Ibas’s ongoing initiative to reinforce openness, accountability, and lasting peace within the state’s leadership framework. Attendance at the session is compulsory.
