Victor Boniface may be battling injuries this season, but that hasn’t stopped Premier League side Newcastle United from moving closer to signing him from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old Nigerian forward was previously on the radar of Saudi club Al Nassr in January, though the club eventually opted for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.
As per a report by German newspaper BILD, the transfer talks between Newcastle and Leverkusen are well advanced, and a final agreement could be imminent.
Despite injury interruptions, Boniface has registered 11 goals in 27 Bundesliga games this season and played a vital part in Leverkusen’s double-title triumph last year.
He arrived at the German club in 2023 after a standout spell with Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.
