Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai were both present at an international conference in the U.S., where African policymakers and scholars gathered to explore the continent’s future.
The two political heavyweights attended the Cambridge Africa Together Conference at St. John’s College, University of Cambridge.
El-Rufai was billed as one of the key speakers at the event, which is renowned for convening leaders and innovators shaping Africa’s trajectory.
Although they stood on different ends of Nigeria’s political spectrum during the last elections, their joint appearance sparked interest.
Obi ran on the Labour Party platform in 2023, while El-Rufai, formerly of the APC, has recently pitched his tent with the SDP.
The former governor is said to be gravitating towards Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, who is laying the groundwork for a broad opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 elections.
