The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has declined to accept the resignation of its Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei.
Peretei had tendered his resignation on Wednesday at Arogbo Ward 1 in Ese Odo Local Government Area, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and accusing it of “selfish leadership.”
He claimed the state’s PDP leadership had no interest in electoral success and described the party as “moving from the intensive care unit to the morgue.”
In response, Bakitta Bello, Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee in Ondo, along with other party members, visited Peretei in Akure, the state capital, on Friday to express their discontent with his resignation.
Bello made it clear that the reasons provided by Peretei for stepping down were not valid, insisting that no conditions within the state chapter of the party warranted such a drastic move.
“You are well within your rights to feel upset, but as someone with political experience, you must recognize that multiple factors influence the decisions made by any political organization,” Bello stated.
“You’ve been a dedicated party member, and that’s why we are here to ask you to reconsider your decision.”
Bello further emphasized that the PDP would not accept Peretei’s resignation and urged him to retract his letter and continue his role within the party.
