INEC debunks claim on voter registration, PVC replacement

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports suggesting that a date has been set for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the replacement of lost Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, clarified that no official date has been announced for these activities.

A circulating report had claimed that INEC would resume voter registration and PVC replacement on May 27, 2025.

However, the Commission urged the public to disregard the misinformation and rely only on official announcements for accurate details.

“The Commission’s attention has been drawn to a misleading report suggesting that CVR and PVC replacement will commence on May 27, 2025. This information is false, as no date has been set for the exercise,” the statement read.

INEC reassured Nigerians that any decision regarding voter registration and related processes would be formally communicated through its official platforms.
