Police react to claims of using helicopter to deliver food to bandits

-

The Nigeria Police Force has refuted widespread online reports that a police helicopter was seen delivering food to bandits in Kogi State, labelling the claims as entirely false.

Force PRO ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi addressed the issue in a statement released on Tuesday, noting that the helicopter captured in a now-viral video was involved in an authorised security mission in Obajana on May 10, 2025.

According to the statement, the operation was a collaborative effort between the police, local security outfits, and other agencies, all working to curb banditry and related crimes in the region.

The chopper’s role, Adejobi stated, was to offer aerial surveillance and support to ground personnel during the mission.

He criticised the narrative being pushed on social media, calling it mischievous and lacking in truth.

“There is no truth whatsoever in the claim that food was being delivered to bandits,” the statement said.

The Police Force urged the public to ignore unverified claims and follow official communication platforms for accurate updates.

It reassured Nigerians of its ongoing dedication to protecting lives and property across the country.
