Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State made a notable appearance at the House of Representatives on Thursday to personally witness the defection of three lawmakers from his state who crossed over from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor arrived at the National Assembly at 11:10 a.m., just moments before the formal announcement of the defections.
The legislators who switched allegiance are Balarabe Dabai (Bakori/Danja), Iliyasu Abubakar (Batsari, Safana, and Dan-Musa), and Salisu Yusuf (Mashi/Dutse).
Immediately after Governor Radda settled into the chamber, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen read out the letters from the lawmakers, officially confirming their move from the PDP to the APC.
The governor then walked the defectors to greet the Speaker with handshakes, after which he exited the chamber.
The development is part of a growing trend in the House of Representatives, where several members from opposition parties—particularly the PDP and the Labour Party—have been switching sides.
Earlier in the week, six PDP lawmakers from Delta State defected to the APC, while two Labour Party members from Enugu crossed over to the PDP.
