A 22-year-old woman identified as Joy Tale was reportedly killed by her landlord’s son, 41-year-old Odunayo Olomolatan, in the Ode-Irele area of Irele Local Government, Ondo State.
The unfortunate incident reportedly took place on Monday during a heated exchange between the victim and the suspect, which allegedly escalated into a violent attack.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stating that the suspect has been arrested and is currently being held at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ode-Irele.
“It is true that the young woman was allegedly killed during an altercation with her landlord’s son,” Ayanlade said. “The suspect is in police custody, and investigations are underway to determine what led to the incident.”
In the wake of the tragedy, the Chairman of Irele Local Government, Olajide Akinfe, appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid any form of retaliation. He also confirmed that he visited the police station and assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure justice prevails.
Authorities have pledged a thorough investigation to uncover the full details surrounding the shocking death.
