Senate President Godswill Akpabio has come under fire from the Obidient Movement after he mocked Peter Obi for failing to unite the Labour Party.
Akpabio’s remarks, which questioned Obi’s leadership capabilities amid the party’s internal issues, were swiftly condemned by the group.
In a rebuttal issued on Saturday in Awka, spokesperson Nana Kazaure alleged that the ruling APC is actively destabilising the Labour Party by protecting Julius Abure, the ousted chairman, using state security apparatus.
Kazaure described Akpabio’s leadership of the 10th Senate as abysmal, claiming that his recent outburst only highlighted his lack of restraint.
She stated that the Labour Party’s legal dispute had already been resolved by the Supreme Court, which ruled against Abure.
Despite this, Kazaure said the APC has ignored the court’s verdict and continues to back Abure for political advantage.
She slammed Akpabio for what she termed a dishonest portrayal of Obi, insisting that the actual problem lies in the ruling party’s interference rather than any shortcomings on Obi’s part.
Kazaure ended by asserting that Obi’s political career and moral standing remain untarnished, stating that Akpabio is in no position to question or undermine his legacy.
