Ogun gov orders refund of civil service recruitment fees amid hardship

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has ordered the refund of all administrative fees associated with the ongoing recruitment into the state civil service.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, ghe directive was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, in a statement released on Thursday in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Abiodun instructed the Civil Service Commission to reimburse the fees, despite their long-standing nature, having been a fixture for decades.

“These fees are charged by the Civil Service Commission on behalf of third-party independent examiners who administer and supervise the Computer Based Test (CBT),” the statement read.

The government also acknowledged the country’s current economic challenges and emphasized the recruitment exercise’s ultimate goal.

“The aim is to alleviate the suffering of the citizens and create employment in the state. This necessitates the directives to immediately refund fees paid along with a waiver for any new applications,” the statement concluded.
