NiMet predicts sunny, hazy weather across Nigeria for three days

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a combination of sunshine and hazy conditions across various parts of the country from Saturday to Monday.

According to the weather outlook released on Friday in Abuja, the North and North Central regions will experience mostly sunny and hazy conditions on Saturday.

In contrast, the southern part of the country is expected to have cloudy skies in the morning, with intervals of sunshine.

However, later in the day, thunderstorms are likely to develop over states such as Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Edo, and Delta.

For Sunday, NiMet anticipates continued sunny and hazy conditions in the North and North Central regions throughout the day.

The southern region will experience a mix of cloudy skies and sunshine, with thunderstorms expected later in the day over parts of Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, Ogun, Edo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa.

By Monday, similar weather conditions are expected, with the North and North Central regions maintaining sunny and hazy atmospheres.

In the South, the morning is likely to be cloudy with sunshine in some areas, while thunderstorms may occur later in the day in states such as Lagos, Edo, Bayelsa, and Cross River.

NiMet advised the public to take precautions due to the presence of dust particles in the air, especially individuals with respiratory conditions like asthma.

It also warned that strong winds could accompany thunderstorms, urging residents to remain cautious.

The agency recommended that airline operators obtain weather updates for effective flight planning and encouraged the general public to stay informed through NiMet’s official website, www.nimet.gov.ng.
