The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has projected sunny and hazy weather conditions across the country from Saturday to Monday.
According to its forecast released on Friday in Abuja, the northern region will experience sunny skies with hazy conditions, while parts of the central and southern regions may see localized thunderstorms.
On Saturday, NiMet expects clear skies with haziness in the North, while the North-Central region will have sunny conditions with patches of clouds.
Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms may develop over parts of Kwara and Kogi. In the southern regions, cloudy weather with occasional sunshine is expected, with morning thunderstorms likely in Lagos, Edo, and Delta.
Thunderstorms may also occur in the afternoon and evening across states such as Ondo, Ogun, Edo, and Ebonyi.
For Sunday, the northern region is forecast to remain sunny and hazy.
The North-Central area will have similar conditions but with patches of clouds, while localized thunderstorms could affect parts of Nasarawa, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory later in the day.
In the southern states, morning conditions will be mostly cloudy with sunshine, followed by thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
By Monday, the northern states are expected to maintain their sunny and hazy outlook, while the North-Central will experience a mix of sunshine and cloud cover. Thunderstorms may develop over Kogi and Benue in the afternoon and evening.
In the southern region, the day will start with cloudy skies and sunshine, with localized thunderstorms anticipated in Lagos, Delta, and Cross River later in the day.
NiMet has advised residents to take necessary precautions due to dust particles lingering in the atmosphere.
People with respiratory issues, such as asthma, are urged to exercise caution. The agency also warned that thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong winds and advised the public to follow safety guidelines.
Additionally, airline operators have been encouraged to consult NiMet for updated weather reports to ensure safe flight operations. Residents are advised to stay informed through NiMet’s official website for further updates.
