Landmine blast injures three policemen on Maiduguri-Damaturu highway

Three police officers sustained injuries after a landmine exploded along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway in Borno State.

The explosive device, suspected to have been planted by ISWAP insurgents, detonated around 3:00 PM near Garin Kuturu village, situated between Auno and Jakana.

According to intelligence sources, the incident occurred while a Rapid Response Squad (RRS) team was on routine patrol.

The blast damaged their vehicle and left a crater approximately three feet deep and five feet wide.

A bomb disposal unit was dispatched to clear the area of any additional explosives, but none were found. Authorities later declared the road safe for travelers.

The injured officers were taken to Borno State Specialist Hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
