Former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, is currently in a strategic meeting with Speaker Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, Lagos Attorney General Lawal Mohammed Alade Pedro (SAN), APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, and 38 lawmakers.
The meeting, taking place at the assembly garden, precedes a scheduled plenary session later today.
Although the agenda of the meeting has not been made public, it is believed to be related to last week’s events in the assembly.
Obasa, who was impeached by a majority of lawmakers, held a separate plenary session with four legislators despite his removal.
His impeachment led to the election of Meranda as Speaker, but reports suggest she might step down following interventions from APC leadership.
In response to the ongoing political tension, the Lagos State Police Command has reinforced security at the assembly complex to prevent any possible disruptions by unauthorized individuals.
