Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed his willingness to support President Bola Tinubu’s emergency intervention in Rivers State, despite widespread criticism from legal and political observers.

He assured residents that the measure was designed to restore order and urged them not to resist the new administrator, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd), during the six months.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Fubara reflected on his tenure, highlighting his commitment to upholding constitutional governance and safeguarding the state’s progress.

He noted that his administration had complied with court rulings and had implemented the President’s peace efforts in good faith, including reinstating former commissioners.

However, he accused the state legislature of frustrating reconciliation efforts, making it difficult to achieve lasting peace.

Despite these challenges, he affirmed that governance had remained effective, with salaries paid and projects ongoing.

Fubara urged residents to stay peaceful and assured them of his commitment to protecting democracy and ensuring continued progress in the state.
