Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai paid a visit to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari at his Kaduna residence on Friday.
The meeting comes at a time when political realignments and discussions are intensifying within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
El-Rufai’s visit follows closely behind that of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande, who also met with Buhari in Kaduna on Tuesday. The series of high-profile visits has fueled speculation about their political significance.
After completing his tenure on May 29, 2023, Buhari initially settled in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State.
However, in February 2025, he permanently relocated to Kaduna, where he now resides.
Although the purpose of El-Rufai’s meeting with Buhari remains undisclosed, political observers view it as a potential sign of ongoing discussions within APC’s leadership.
Given El-Rufai’s influence in the party and his deep ties to northern politics, the visit could indicate strategic political moves.
With Buhari now based in Kaduna, the state is emerging as a key hub for political consultations and high-level engagements within the ruling party.
