Newly built Abia Govt house to be converted into five-star hotel

-

The Abia State government has disclosed that the new Government House commissioned by ex-Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration will be converted into a luxury hotel due to its unsafe location and poor construction.

Information Commissioner Okey Kanu, who led reporters on a tour of the facility, revealed that the building, situated within a residential area, posed grave security threats to any governor who might occupy it.

He said the site lacked basic installations such as a functional lift and had unfinished upper levels plagued by construction flaws.

Kanu pointed out that while the ground floor was completed, the remaining floors were not only unfurnished but also structurally questionable. He blamed the previous government for misusing public funds on a substandard project.

He dismissed the assertions of former Information Commissioner John Okiyi Kalu, who had accused the current administration of misrepresentation.

Kanu argued that the criticisms were baseless, stating that the building’s flaws speak for themselves.

“The location alone disqualifies it from being a government residence. Converting it into a five-star hotel is the most reasonable and safe course of action,” he added, calling on Nigerians to ignore any claims that the facility was ever properly completed.
