The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted bail to Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as EeZeeTee, in the amount of N20 million.
The gospel music promoter and former manager of artist Mercy Chinwo is facing trial over suspected foreign exchange infractions and money laundering.
The court, led by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, directed that the bail be secured by a Lagos-based surety who owns property of similar value.
EeZeeTee has three days to meet this requirement, following his interim release to legal counsel Ojukwu Chikaosolu.
Initially charged with 14 counts, the EFCC later filed a revised seven-count charge accusing EeZeeTee and his firm, EeZee Global Concepts Limited, of participating in unauthorised currency transactions and failing to disclose financial dealings.
According to EFCC prosecutor Bilikisu Buhari-Bala, the defendant brokered a dollar-to-naira deal in June 2023 worth $52,895 without Central Bank approval—a move in breach of Nigeria’s foreign exchange regulations.
Further allegations suggest he failed to report a series of fund transfers totalling $137,383 into his company’s Zenith Bank account during 2024, a breach of money laundering laws.
EeZeeTee has entered a not guilty plea to all charges. The case is set to continue on June 20, 2025.
