Two women die after falling into puddle in Kano

Two women have lost their lives after reportedly falling into a puddle while attempting to wash themselves after work in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to a statement released by the Kano State Fire Service on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the incident occurred around 11:15 am.

The agency said it received a distress call from the commander of the local vigilante group in Gezawa, who reported the situation.

“According to their relatives, the two women were workers in a zobo processing company.

They had entered the water with the intention of washing their bodies after closing from duty, which unfortunately led to their deaths,” said ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service.

Abdullahi further stated that the search for the victims began on the evening of Monday, April 7 and that the bodies were eventually recovered on Tuesday.

“We successfully retrieved them unconscious and handed over the victims to Police Officer Musa Garba of Gezawa Police Division,” he added.

As of the time of filing this report, the fire service has not yet released the identities of the deceased.
