Several dead, dozens injured in Abuja–Kaduna road accident

A deadly road mishap claimed several lives and left many injured on Friday shortly after Jere town on the Abuja–Kaduna highway.

The tragic accident took place near a known hazard zone close to Katari village, where a diversion caused by road repairs forces vehicles into opposing lanes.

Eyewitnesses cited reckless driving and lack of caution in the narrow segment as probable causes.

One road user lamented, “There’s no room to maneuver. Once someone tries to overtake recklessly, there’s little chance to avoid a crash.”

While emergency services responded promptly and began evacuating victims, the total number of casualties had not been verified by officials at the time of reporting.

Despite ongoing efforts to make the road safer, frequent accidents in the area have raised questions about compliance and enforcement of safety protocols among drivers.
