A sweeping disciplinary action at Kaduna Polytechnic has led to the expulsion of 63 students and the suspension of 36 others following investigations into serious academic breaches.
The sanctions were approved during the 114th session of the Academic Board held on April 30, 2025. In a follow-up circular dated May 5, Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs), Abdullahi Muhammad, relayed that the institution’s Registrar, Muhammed Tanimu, officially communicated the decisions to staff and students.
Two internal committees—the Fraudulent Admission and Related Matters Investigation Committee (FARMIC) and the Examination Misconduct Cases and Malpractice Committee (EMCMC)—submitted damning reports that led to the disciplinary decisions.
FARMIC uncovered five cases of students who were illegally admitted into the polytechnic. Those found guilty, including Essien Margret Lawrence and Maryam Nasir, had their admissions revoked and were expelled.
The EMCMC report cited over 70 students from departments like Civil Engineering, Architecture, Public Administration, Building Technology, and Mass Communication for involvement in examination misconduct.
Expelled students include Lawrence Samuel Anto, Fauziya Abdulrahman Buba, and Ibrahim Muhammed Nazeer. Others received suspensions of varying lengths, depending on the gravity of their violations. This category includes Joseline Beauty, Jonah, and Muazu Umar.
In contrast, three students, including Abubakar Ibrahim Ashir of the Computer Science Department, were cleared of any allegations following thorough inquiries.
Emphasising its stance on academic ethics, the institution pledged to continue enforcing stringent measures to preserve the integrity of its academic processes.
