Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of JAMB, has denied accusations that the board deliberately disrupted UTME results for students from Nigeria’s South-East region.
This response follows widespread criticism after technical issues during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) disrupted exams in Lagos and five South-East states.
Some critics, including lawmakers, accused the board of intentionally sabotaging students in the region.
During a strategic meeting with board officials ahead of the release of the rescheduled exam results, Oloyede refuted these allegations and maintained that JAMB holds all candidates in equal regard, regardless of their location or background.
He also expressed sorrow over the death of a candidate during the exam period, with attendees pausing for a moment of silence in the candidate’s memory.
Despite calls from some quarters for his resignation, particularly from representatives of the affected zone, Oloyede reaffirmed that the board had no discriminatory motives in the technical setback.
