I was fed once daily — Hypertensive ex-NYSC DG describes grim conditions in captivity

-

Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (Rtd), former head of the NYSC, has revealed disturbing details of his captivity, citing severe malnutrition and neglect that worsened his health as a hypertensive patient.

Following his rescue after spending more than 50 days in the custody of terrorists, as reported by MCC, Tsiga disclosed that the hostages were fed only once a day, with a meagre meal of millet and salt.

“This took a heavy toll on my body,” he said, noting that the poor diet compounded his existing medical condition.

He also revealed that the captors treated retired military officers among the abductees with extreme cruelty.

Since regaining freedom, Tsiga has been receiving medical care and remains hospitalized.

He expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, and the armed forces for the coordinated efforts that led to his release and the safe return of others.
