Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian music star Mohbad, has reignited discussions surrounding his son’s death by disclosing the cost of the autopsy carried out to determine its cause.
During a recent live session on TikTok, Aloba claimed that the entire process cost him a total of ₦18 million—₦16 million of which went directly to the autopsy itself, while the remaining ₦2 million covered related expenses.
Aloba stood firmly by his statement, asserting its accuracy and daring anyone with opposing facts to come forward. “I’m telling the truth,” he declared. “Anyone who says otherwise should present their evidence.”
His revelation sparked intense reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing disbelief at the figure.
Several commenters on social media questioned how he managed to secure such a large sum and called for transparency by demanding receipts or proof of payment.
Adding to the controversy, Aloba also released a song on TikTok, which he described as a personal and emotional expression of his grief.
He referred to it as a heartfelt tribute and a cry from a father still mourning his son.
However, the move drew mixed reactions. While a few sympathised with his emotional journey, others accused him of exploiting the situation for attention or financial gain, criticising the timing and intention behind the song’s release.
