The Presidency has dismissed viral reports that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, had submitted a proposal of N105,000 as monthly national minimum wage to President Bola Tinubu for approval.

According to a post on his verified X page on Thursday evening, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said there was no such proposal from the Finance Minister.

Onanuga wrote: “The Honorable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false.”

The President had Tuesday directed Edun to present the four-point resolution of the meeting with members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

TREND reports that Organised Labour began an indefinite strike Monday morning to compel the Federal Government to review upward the minimum wage of Nigerian workers. The strike was, however, relaxed for further negotiations with the Federal Government.
