Tinubu names Babatunde Ogunjimi as Accountant General of the Federation

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation following a comprehensive selection process.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga announced that the appointment will take effect on March 7, 2025, the same day the incumbent, Oluwatoyin Madehin, is set to retire.

Ogunjimi, 57, was initially identified as a potential successor in December 2024.

His selection followed a rigorous and merit-driven process, during which a committee evaluated senior accounting officials in the Federal Civil Service.

Candidates underwent three stages of assessment, including a written test, an ICT proficiency examination, and oral interviews.

The selection process underscores President Tinubu’s dedication to promoting competence, transparency, and excellence in public service appointments.

Ogunjimi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1990), and a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos.

He is also a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

Congratulating Ogunjimi, President Tinubu urged him to execute his duties with professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to serving the nation.
