Officials from the Korean National Intelligence Service have officially requested the extradition of Ogbonnaya Jeff to face drug-related charges in South Korea, following his arrest in Nigeria.
NIS envoys Choi Younkwan and Kim Juseok made the formal request during a recent visit to the NDLEA office in Abuja.
NIS Director Taeyong Cho, in a letter delivered to the agency, highlighted Jeff’s role in trafficking substantial amounts of illicit substances into South Korea and expressed deep gratitude for Nigeria’s cooperation.
Cho stated that the arrest would not have been possible without the NDLEA’s vital assistance and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between both countries in the global war against drugs.
Responding to the request, NDLEA Chairman Marwa reassured the Korean delegation that the extradition request would be handled in line with Nigeria’s legal framework and international agreements.
He expressed Nigeria’s readiness to strengthen bilateral ties and thanked the Korean government for donating essential equipment to support NDLEA operations.
Marwa also welcomed the idea of training exchanges for NDLEA operatives in South Korea, describing it as a valuable opportunity to enhance the agency’s capabilities.
