Governor Chukwuma Soludo has secured the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ticket to contest for a second term in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
At the party’s primary held on Saturday in Awka, the state capital, Soludo emerged as the sole candidate and was confirmed unopposed, receiving overwhelming support from delegates across the 21 local government areas of the state.
Delegates participated in a yes-or-no vote to endorse the governor’s candidacy. Announcing the outcome, chairman of the APGA electoral panel, Uche Nwegbo, disclosed that out of 3,260 registered delegates, 3,175 were accredited.
A total of 3,172 votes were cast, with 3,168 voting in favour of Soludo and none against. Only four votes were declared invalid.
Following the announcement, a visibly moved Governor Soludo expressed appreciation to both God and party members for their trust.
“I am deeply humbled and grateful for this historic show of unity and support,” he said. “With all sense of humility, I accept this nomination to once again fly our party’s flag.”
The governor called on party members and supporters to rally behind his re-election bid, promising to sustain the developmental strides recorded under his leadership.
He reaffirmed that his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim, will remain his running mate for the November election.
With APGA’s ticket now officially in his grasp, attention will turn to other political parties as they prepare to conduct their primaries and unveil their own candidates for the race.
