Several dead, others injured as Soldiers clash with gunmen in Imo

In a deadly clash in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, soldiers and gunmen exchanged gunfire, leaving several people dead and others injured.

Reports indicate that the altercation occurred late last night, with the gunmen launching an assault on soldiers in the Aba branch area.

According to witnesses, the situation quickly spiraled out of control, transforming the area into a battleground. A source familiar with the events revealed, “An armed group attacked and killed some soldiers yesterday. The entire area is in chaos, and military forces have now taken control of nearby communities.”

The intense gunfire forced many residents to flee their homes in fear, with some leaving hurriedly and unsure when they might return. One local resident, speaking anonymously, expressed the community’s fear: “We are terrified. Gunfire is still ringing out, and we don’t know what’s happening. Ehime was always a peaceful place, and now we’re in shock and uncertainty.”

As of the time of this report, no official statement had been released by either the police or military authorities regarding the incident.
