Notorious bandit leader Kachalla Lukuti dies mysteriously, gang forces villagers to bury him

Kachalla Dan Lukuti, a feared bandit leader responsible for multiple deadly attacks in Zamfara and Katsina States, has reportedly died under mysterious circumstances after suffering from a bizarre illness.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared the news on social media, Lukuti fell seriously ill about a week ago.

Sources familiar with his activities described his symptoms as highly unusual—intense aggression, uncontrollable spasms, and, in his final hours, continuous barking sounds resembling a rabid dog.

“The nature of his illness terrified his gang members, who refused to go near him,” a source revealed. “They watched helplessly from a distance until he finally passed away.”

Lukuti, who operated from the Kokonba forest in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, led a gang of over 50 heavily armed men. He was responsible for several violent attacks in communities such as Dan Jiloga, Rijiya, Zonai, Magami, and along the Gusau-Magami highway, as well as in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Despite his reign of terror, his final moments were marked by suffering. Eyewitnesses recounted how he howled and barked continuously before succumbing to the illness.

Superstitious and afraid, Lukuti’s gang reportedly refused to bury him, instead forcing villagers in Kizara to handle his funeral. “The locals had no choice but to lay him to rest at the primary school,” Zagazola reported.
