Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will face trial before a new judge, Justice James Omotosho, at the Federal High Court in Abuja on March 21, 2025.

According to his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, the defence team is ready for the hearing but has yet to receive the charges against Kanu.

He noted that the government often serves legal documents at the last moment, making it difficult to review the accusations in advance.

This follows Kanu’s previous challenge to Justice Binta Nyako’s handling of his case, which led to her brief recusal before the Chief Judge reinstated her.

However, the case was later suspended indefinitely in December 2024. In response, Kanu vowed not to return to court unless a different judge was assigned.

Ejimakor explained that this development effectively resets the trial, wiping out all previous legal proceedings and appeals.

He stressed that they are awaiting official notification of the charges, which remain undisclosed as the hearing date approaches.
