Nine kidnapped surveyors in Akure released after paying ransom

After being held captive for nearly two weeks, nine surveyors abducted in Akure have regained their freedom.

Ajibade Owolanke, a family member of one of the victims, confirmed that they were released at midnight following intense negotiations with the kidnappers.

The victims were seized by gunmen at a project site in Ilu Abo, with their captors initially demanding N100 million for their release.

Eventually, they agreed to accept N20 million, which was gathered from community members and traders.

“They are finally free. We are grateful to the media for shedding light on their plight. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s support,” Owolanke stated.

The victims are currently receiving medical attention at the hospital.
