Niger Govt announces N200,000 for NYSC members 

The Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, announced a N200,000 bonus for each member of the Batch B, Stream 1 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the state.

This announcement, made on Tuesday, July 2, aims to encourage the 1,600 corps members to remain and serve in Niger State.

The governor’s announcement was met with loud cheers and applause from the corps members.

Speaking at the NYSC Batch B, Stream 1 orientation ceremony held at the temporary camp in Paikoro, Governor Bago also highlighted additional incentives for those who venture into agriculture, offering the potential to earn N500,000 monthly.

He further announced a N5 billion investment for the development of a new NYSC camp.

“I was told that there are 1,600 corps members for this batch. I am crediting each of your accounts with N200,000 to make your stay in Niger State comfortable. This is to show you that there is prosperity here. I will do my best to ensure that corps members enjoy serving in Niger State,” the governor stated.

Additionally, Governor Bago committed to improving facilities at the temporary camp, including the construction of more toilets and the drilling of five boreholes.

He also pledged to provide 20 cows and a trailer load of rice for the welfare of the corps members in camp.

The governor announced automatic employment for corps members in the medical and health fields and encouraged others to contribute to the state’s agricultural sector.

He emphasized the state government’s significant investment in agricultural mechanization to inspire youth participation in agriculture.
