Labour Party reorganises as Obi, Otti call key stakeholders to Abuja NEC session

Labour Party stalwarts Peter Obi and Governor Alex Otti have invited party stakeholders to a high-level NEC meeting in Abuja on April 9, signaling a major effort to regroup following a recent judicial shake-up.

The Wednesday gathering, which will also include a stakeholder Town Hall engagement, is expected to host a broad array of party actors.

They include candidates and office holders from the 2023 general elections, party committee members, and representatives from allied labour bodies.

Among those invited are the party’s former vice-presidential candidate, senators (serving and past), House of Representatives members and aspirants, former gubernatorial candidates still affiliated with the party, and delegates from both the National Caretaker and Transition Committees.

Members of the NLC/TUC Political Commission and the previous National Working Committee are also on the list.

The meeting follows a Supreme Court verdict that nullified the leadership of Julius Abure, prompting a fresh round of consultations and reorganisation within the party.
