Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed circulating rumours that he suffered a health crisis and was flown to France for medical treatment.
Speaking during a project inspection tour in Abuja on Thursday, Wike described the reports as baseless and politically driven.
“There was never a time I collapsed. No one took me anywhere for medical attention,” he asserted.
The Minister maintained that he has been actively carrying out his responsibilities, citing his participation in various public engagements, including a visit to the Presidential Villa and an Iftar dinner with the President.
According to Wike, the false reports were orchestrated by political detractors attempting to mislead the public.
Abuja’s development on course, says Wike
Amid the controversy, Wike reaffirmed that infrastructure projects across the FCT are progressing well and are set for commissioning in line with President Tinubu’s second anniversary.
“I’m impressed with the level of work done. Our contractors are committed, and funding has not been an issue,” he noted.
He urged Abuja residents and businesses to fulfil their tax responsibilities, emphasizing that public funds were being used to drive meaningful development.
The Minister reiterated his commitment to Abuja’s transformation, stating that his focus remains on tangible projects rather than political distractions.
“We will not lose focus. Our goal is to deliver top-tier infrastructure that benefits every resident,” Wike declared.
With major international events approaching, he assured that critical projects would be completed in time to uphold Abuja’s status as a leading capital city in Africa.
Wike was accompanied on the inspection tour by Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda, FCDA executives, and other senior officials overseeing the projects.
