Governance uninterrupted as Tinubu oversees Nigeria from Europe — Presidency

President Bola Tinubu remains hands-on with governance even while abroad in Europe, a presidential aide has said.

In a statement made public on April 17, Bayo Onanuga, one of Tinubu’s spokespersons, reaffirmed that the president’s overseas stay is temporary and adheres to the two-week duration previously communicated. He is expected back after the 2025 Easter holiday.

Onanuga confirmed that Tinubu travelled from Paris to London over the past weekend but has not taken a break from his presidential duties.

The president, he said, has been in continuous contact with his cabinet and has issued important instructions to security agencies in response to threats in certain parts of the country.

“Even while away, President Tinubu’s leadership remains intact. He is fully briefed and actively managing affairs from abroad,” the aide explained. Tinubu’s full return to work at the Presidential Villa in Abuja will follow the Easter celebration.

He further emphasized that Tinubu’s dedication to leading the country has not waned and that the administration continues to function smoothly.

The presidency thanked Nigerians for their concern and assured them that governance is ongoing.

On a different note, PDP’s Atiku Abubakar voiced concerns about the nation’s deteriorating security which was earlier reported by MCC.

Through his media adviser Paul Ibe, Atiku accused Tinubu of being absent at a time of escalating violence, particularly in the northcentral region. He described Nigeria as being in a “state of emergency.”
