FCT minister Wike questions Fubara’s sincerity in reconciliation talks

-

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has cast doubt on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s ability to genuinely pursue peace amid their ongoing political feud.

During a media address on Monday, Wike revealed that Fubara, accompanied by two APC governors, had approached him in a bid to resolve their differences.

But Wike claimed he remained unconvinced by Fubara’s approach, criticising the governor for failing to manage his political base.

“You claim to want peace, yet your supporters are out there daily protesting and attacking people in the media,” Wike said. “That doesn’t reflect someone who is truly in control or interested in reconciliation.”

This statement comes shortly after Fubara publicly advised his backers to avoid conduct that might obstruct his peace initiatives. Still, Wike maintains that without discipline from Fubara’s camp, peace remains unlikely.
