Governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to hold a crucial meeting in Abuja this Sunday, as a wave of defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) continues to rock the opposition party.
MCC News reports that within the last fortnight, the PDP has seen a notable number of its members and political structures align with the APC.
The trend gained momentum on April 23, when Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led the entire PDP framework in the state to the APC.
This political shift happened just days after PDP governors met in Ibadan, where they indicated openness to political alliances ahead of the 2027 elections but explicitly distanced themselves from a proposed coalition being driven by ex-presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
Further defections loom in Kebbi State, as all three PDP senators from the state are reportedly heading to the APC.
Sources revealed that the emergency meeting—likely to take place at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro—may also cover key issues concerning the party’s National Executive Committee meeting set for May 27.
