Taraba police, military, hunters rescue kidnapped Israeli national

The Taraba State Police, in partnership with the military and local hunters, have successfully rescued an Israeli national who was abducted in the Atim Community along the Takum/Chanchangi Road on April 3, 2025.

The victim, Gil Itamar, an employee of SCC company, was taken by armed criminals around 9:15 AM.

The Taraba Police received the distress call from Alhaji Saidu, a staff member of SCC, around 10:30 AM.

In response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Takum, along with officers from the 67 PMF, military personnel, and hunters, launched a rescue mission.

After an intense search and a violent gun battle, the criminals were forced to retreat, and Itamar was freed in Kofai Ahmadu. He is currently receiving medical attention at SCC’s health facility in Takum.

Efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing criminals, with authorities determined to bring them to justice.

Taraba’s Police Commissioner, Bretet Emmanuel, praised the officers involved in the operation, assuring the public that the police will continue to safeguard the state and pursue criminals relentlessly.

He also warned that criminal activities in Taraba would no longer be tolerated.
