Officers of the Katsina State Police Command have arrested two men suspected of stealing a car and refused a N1 million bribe allegedly offered by the suspects.
The vehicle, believed to have been stolen, was also recovered.
The development was announced in a statement released on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on April 11, 2025, around 3:00 p.m. when a patrol team from Border Patrol Zone 4 intercepted a green Toyota Corolla LE in Birnin Kuka village, located in Mashi Local Government Area of the state.
The car was being driven by two men identified as Mubarak Kabir, 26, and Adamu Hashim, 27, both from Kurna quarters in Fagge LGA, Kano State.
Initial investigations revealed that the car had been stolen from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In an effort to escape arrest, the suspects reportedly offered the officers N1 million in cash, which the patrol team declined.
The two individuals were taken into custody immediately.
The police also recovered several items from the suspects, including the car in question, the cash bribe, three mobile phones, a power bank, and a bunch of keys.
DSP Sadiq added that further investigation is ongoing to uncover more details about the suspects’ criminal activities. Updates will be provided as the inquiry progresses.
Commending the officers for their professionalism, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bello Shehu, praised their refusal to compromise and their dedication to duty.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order while protecting citizens’ lives and property with integrity and respect for human rights.
