Security operatives in Nasarawa State have successfully rescued two kidnapped students of the Federal University Lafia after an attack by gunmen at their lodge behind Nasara Estate, Tudun Kauri, Lafia.
The students, Sadiq Adinoyi and Sakina Adinoyi, were abducted on March 30, 2024, around 9:20 PM.
Upon receiving the distress call, Commissioner of Police CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed directed the immediate deployment of officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and ‘A’ Division, Lafia.
After tracking the kidnappers using intelligence reports, police operatives raided a forest behind the 500 Housing Unit along Doma Road, Lafia, on April 1, 2025, at approximately 11:30 AM.
The ensuing gunfight forced the criminals to abandon their captives and flee.
During the operation, officers arrested a suspect identified as Ibrahim Musa from Abuni village in Awe Local Government Area.
According to the police, he has provided critical information assisting in ongoing investigations.
Praising the officers for their dedication, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed reiterated the command’s determination to combat crime.
“Our officers will continue to take proactive measures against criminal elements. Nasarawa must be safe for all residents,” he said.
Confirming the rescue, Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel added, “We encourage members of the public to remain security-conscious and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.”
The police assured that efforts are underway to track down the remaining kidnappers.
