Gunmen kill man in Niger, police launch investigation

The Niger State Police Command has begun an investigation into the murder of Gigi Danbaka, who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Rafi Local Government Area.

According to intelligence sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the attack occurred on March 12 around 2:00 p.m.

Danbaka and his family had ventured into the forest along the Gabi-Alawa Road in Ringa District to gather mangoes when they were ambushed by armed men.

The assailants took Danbaka captive but spared his family, instructing them to return later to retrieve his body.

Authorities received a report of the incident around 8:20 p.m., prompting security personnel and local vigilantes to launch a search operation.

Tragically, by 11:00 a.m. on March 13, his lifeless body was found at the scene.

The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
