Faruruwa town in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State was thrown into panic Thursday night after gunmen suspected to be bandits launched a deadly attack during the community’s night market.
The armed men reportedly opened fire indiscriminately, leading to the death of a prominent trader identified as Alhaji Rabilu.
Two other individuals suffered gunshot injuries, while one person was taken away by the attackers.
The terrifying incident, which disrupted economic activities at the busy market, was made public by a security expert known as Bakatsine via X (formerly Twitter).
“The attackers were well-armed and caught everyone unprepared. They killed a respected businessman, injured two, and abducted one person,” he wrote.
While the authorities have yet to issue an official statement, local sources say the attack has left the town in a state of fear. A resident described the situation as deeply alarming.
“If these criminals can attack when the market is filled with people, then no one is truly safe,” the resident said, calling for swift intervention.
Efforts are reportedly underway by security personnel to track the perpetrators and secure the release of the abducted individual.
